As far as I can see, it is a very nice picture and very nice of you to make for your friend's birthday.
a few things though, the outline in gray around your image may not be necessary. In fact it seems to make this image appear more like mass of color on first glance. Try considering the elements in your picture (even the once around it) and their purpose: to they make it easier to see the picture? does it connect the picture to the background? etc.
In addition, be careful about your outlines. Take it slow and steady while doing them and erase what isn't necessarily needed (size doesn't matter, as long as the lines are smooth and consistent) Of course, depending on what you're making, the outlines could be as crazy as you want them
Furthermore, pay attention to anatomy. Don't worry if you're not sure where the muscles go, the internet and various books are here to help you learn that stuff. You could try referencing an actual picture of an animal before or while you draw, you may be pleasantly surprised buy the result.
Otherwise, this is a great pic and a very nice thing for you to do for a friend.
This is a critique, please do not get upset or offended as the advice is optional. this is NOT to be considered an attack on you or your art
